| The unit is very good and it works better than expected. My basement if approximately 1800 sq ft and this unit draws moisture out of the room like a charm. |
Of course the most humid level is the lower level where the unit is placed, and of course heat rises ... Since the nights are cooler, I only run the unit at night, keeping the occupied bedroom doors shut with windows open. The fan does run continually when the unit is on, even if the desired humidity level is reached (50%, for ex.) and the unit is not removing water from the air. The unit stops when the bucket is full. I do not have a good place to drain the unit using a hose.
Unlike other dehumidifiers I've had (which blew dehumidified air out horizontally from the back or front), this Frigidaire FAD704DWD Energy Star 70-pint Dehumidifier unit's fan blows the very warm dehumidified air out the top to the right. The humidity on our lower level is kept at 55-60% by just running this unit for 8-10 hours at night (and by running small fans continually in small lower level rooms open to the central area where the dehumidifier is placed.
