Just got this Husqvarna 460 Rancher 20-Inch 60cc 2-Stoke X-Torq Gas Powered Chain Saw which replaced a poulan consumer grade model. I had used a 455 and really liked it but for a little extra money went with the 460 and extra power for the same weight. This weekend my neighbor cut down two huge maple trees and gave me all the wood. They were all in 4-6 foot sections from the tree service. I needed something with more power and a longer bar. While this one is only 2" longer than my 455, those extra inches really help. And it will accept a 24" bar as well.

Very easy starting, cuts like a razor with plenty of power. If you follow the directions 2 - 3 pulls cold start and 1 pull hot start. I may buy a lighter saw to replace my 16 inch poulan or swap out the bar and chain on this to a 16 inch. If I did replace the poulan it would be with a Husky. Highly recommended. I have more cutting to do and will update later if needed.

Also if you don't have Kevlar chaps get some period. Labonville extreme chaps worth every penny and then some.. It throws long, curling chips and buzzes through a stack of various hardwoods, red oak, ash, apple, elm, and others I can't ID. The brake is for people who don't know enough not to cut with the tip of the blade; other than small branches.

Reviews/Advantages

• Use: With the twenty inch bar and the horsepower of this saw, this cut through oaks like butter. Okay, maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but it did cut bigger trees more effortlessly than my partner using my Stihl. I was clearly trees at a faster rate and getting them sized for firewood much faster. The largest Oak was around twenty inch diameter, maybe a little more, but I had no issue felling it and clearing it from the roadway.
• Weight: This saw is heavy and after a day of cutting and hauling, my arms felt it.
• Power: This saw has plenty of power for the twenty inch bar and the torque can be felt when you pull the throttle.
• Ergonomic Design: The saw had everything in the right place and was easy to turn and hold for the various cuts. The vibration of the saw was not noticeable and I had good isolation in comparison to the other two saws I own.

Disadvantages

Conclusion

Use the recommended oil pump setting, perform the daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance. Start by practicing maintenance before using the saw. Use of Stihl or Husky XP oil is highly recommended by professional saw shops. I do recommend this saw to anyone who needs a good all around saw.

I have used it for felling- mostly Cherry and Oak, averaging 16" diameter many times for the past year. I also used Husqvarna 460 Rancher 20-Inch 60.3cc 2-Stoke X-Torq Gas Powered Chain Saw (CARB Compliant) twice for storm cleanup but most of my usage is firewood processing. Pulls hard and cuts great. With the 60cc motor, it will "torque up" in your hands when revving. Pretty serious saw and top of the line mid-range for Husqy.

This is a superb machine, worth the extra money over the 455, if you cut alot of wood each year and it is the top of the line for non-professional sawyers. Not quite professional, but damn close! When used with a chain this thing can do some serious damage, and trees will fear the sound fo you coming.
